The Challenge

A viral party game phenomenon was expanding to mobile platforms. Their microservices backend needed to scale across iOS, Android, and Samsung's Galaxy Store while maintaining the chaotic, seamless multiplayer experience that made the game a hit. They also needed enhanced entitlements—tracking what players earn and own across all platforms.

Our Solution

Our team embedded directly into the studio's microservices teams, building backend services for all three mobile storefronts. We delivered seamless cross-platform integration enabling players to earn rewards on mobile and see them on console, and vice versa.

The Challenge

When a party game goes viral, you need to meet players where they are. Our client’s hit title had exploded on console and PC, and mobile was the next frontier. But expanding to iOS, Android, and Galaxy Store meant handling three different authentication systems, payment flows, and entitlement patterns—all while maintaining consistency with existing PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic integrations.

The entitlements system was critical. In a game where cosmetics and rewards drive engagement, players expect seamless progression. Earn something on your phone during lunch, see it on your PlayStation when you get home. That experience had to work flawlessly.

Our Approach

Embedded Integration

Our 3-person team integrated directly into the studio’s internal development structure. Rather than working as a separate unit, each engineer joined different microservices teams—participating in their standups, their code reviews, their deployment cycles.

Mobile Platform Backend

We built backend services supporting the mobile launch across all three target platforms:

  • iOS App Store - Authentication, payments, entitlements
  • Google Play - Same capabilities, different integration patterns
  • Galaxy Store - Samsung-specific requirements and certification

Each platform has unique requirements, but players shouldn’t notice. The backend abstraction ensures a consistent experience regardless of where someone plays.

Cross-Platform Entitlements

The entitlements work enabled true cross-platform progression. Play on mobile, earn rewards, see them on PlayStation. Buy something on Xbox, use it on Android. This cross-platform consistency was essential for maintaining the game’s community—players shouldn’t feel punished for switching devices.

The Results

Over 5 months, we delivered:

  • Seamless cross-platform integration across all mobile storefronts
  • Enhanced entitlements system enabling rewards to sync everywhere
  • Backend services deployed across multiple microservices teams
  • Successful embedded collaboration within the studio’s existing structure

This demonstrated our ability to integrate into established development teams and contribute to major game platforms without disruption.
